Our Services

At Queenstown Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, we are dedicated to providing specialist surgical care for conditions of the mouth, jaws, and face. Our team combines advanced clinical expertise with a patient-centred approach, ensuring every treatment is delivered with safety, precision, and compassion. We work closely with dentists, orthodontists, and other healthcare providers to offer a full range of oral and maxillofacial surgical services, supported by modern facilities and the routine use of intravenous (IV) sedation for comfort.

Wisdom Tooth Surgery
Wisdom Tooth Surgery
Wisdom teeth often become impacted or only partially erupt, leading to pain, swelling, infection, or damage to nearby teeth. At QTOMS, all wisdom tooth surgery is performed under intravenous (IV) sedation to ensure patient comfort and minimise anxiety. The procedure involves carefully accessing the tooth through the gum and, when necessary, sectioning it into smaller pieces for safe removal. IV sedation allows patients to remain conscious but deeply relaxed, with little memory of the surgery afterwards.
Orthodontic Surgical Treatments
Orthodontic Surgical Treatments
Surgical procedures can support orthodontic care by improving outcomes and efficiency. These include: - Exposure and bonding of unerupted teeth (commonly canines) to allow orthodontic guidance. - Extraction of selected teeth to create space for alignment. - Placement of temporary anchorage devices (TADs) — small screws or plates inserted in the jawbone to provide stable anchorage for precise tooth movement. - Corrective jaw (orthognathic) surgery, performed in collaboration with orthodontists, to reposition the jaws for improved bite, function, and facial balance.
Apicectomy
Apicectomy
When infection persists at the tip of a tooth root after root canal treatment, an apicectomy may be recommended. This microsurgical procedure removes the root tip and surrounding infected tissue, sealing the end of the root to preserve the natural tooth and prevent further infection.
Dental Implant Surgery
Dental Implant Surgery
Dental implants are a proven, long-term solution for missing teeth. A titanium implant is placed into the jawbone, where it integrates with the bone to form a strong foundation for a crown, bridge, or denture. At QTOMS, we provide implant treatment ranging from single-tooth replacement to full-arch solutions (such as fixed bridges or “teeth-in-a-day” concepts). We have access to digital 3D planning and guided surgery systems, which we use selectively for complex or demanding cases to optimise precision, safety, and outcomes. This ensures each patient receives the most appropriate approach for their individual needs while maintaining efficiency and predictability.
TMJ Disorders
TMJ Disorders
The temporomandibular joints (TMJs) allow the jaw to open, close, and move. Problems in these joints can cause pain, clicking, locking, or difficulty with normal function. At QTOMS, we place strong emphasis on non-surgical management first, which may include: - Lifestyle and habit changes (such as jaw rest, posture, and avoiding clenching) - Physiotherapy and jaw exercises - Splint therapy (bite appliances) - Medication for pain and inflammation When symptoms do not improve with conservative measures, surgical treatment such as joint lavage, arthroscopy, or open surgery may be considered. Our team carefully evaluates each case to ensure the most appropriate and least invasive treatment pathway.
Oral Pathology
Oral Pathology
Changes in the mouth, such as persistent ulcers, lumps, or patches, may require investigation. We provide surgical diagnosis and treatment, including biopsy or removal of abnormal tissue, with all specimens carefully examined by specialist pathologists.
Intravenous Sedation
Intravenous Sedation
All procedures at QTOMS are carried out with a focus on patient comfort. IV sedation is standard for wisdom tooth surgery and is also available for dental implants, apicectomy, and other oral surgical procedures where patients prefer a more relaxed experience. Sedation is safely administered and continuously monitored throughout treatment, allowing patients to remain conscious yet deeply relaxed.
